FAQ - Anti-grey effect
Frequently asked questions and answers
Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo was specially developed for women with brown to dark natural hair who want to conceal grey hair and hide the regrowth of the hairline. The innovative repigmentation technology with the ingredient 5,6-DHI ensures that the hair gradually becomes darker - simply by shampooing. The colour effect only becomes more intense with regular use and does not wash out again. For optimum colour results, we recommend using the shampoo every time you wash your hair and leaving it on for two to five minutes.
Yes, Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo can be used daily without hesitation. The shampoo should be left on for two to five minutes. The ingredient 5,6-DHI accumulates in the hair during shampooing and reacts with the oxygen in the air to form a colour pigment. This creates a permanent colour effect that does not wash out but grows out with the hair. Once the desired colour result has been achieved, it can be used alternately with a normal shampoo. To provide the hair with its daily dose of caffeine, you can use our Plantur 39 Phyto-Caffeine Shampoo and/or Phyto-Caffeine Tonic.
The first visible effects of Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo can usually be expected after two to four weeks of regular use. However, the results may vary depending on the individual hair condition and the initial hair colour.
Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo ensures gradually darker hair. The ingredient 5,6-DHI is responsible for this. Its mode of action is modelled on the natural formation of the dark colour pigment eumelanin in the hair. The hair can therefore become darker, but it is not possible to restore the natural colour of the hair, as this is very individual and depends on the ratio of dark eumelanin to light pheomelanin.
With conventional hair colours or permanent colouring, the hair expands with hydrogen peroxide so that the dyes can penetrate better. In contrast, Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo works without aggressive chemicals. Here, the colour pigments are formed by a reaction with the oxygen in the air. This natural-looking pigmentation process is much easier on the hair.
The active principle of Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo is based on the natural processes of hair colour formation. The use of 5,6-DHI, a precursor of the natural hair pigment eumelanin, enables gradual and permanent grey coverage that does not wash out. When the product is applied, the dye accumulates, penetrates the hair shaft and forms large "dye chains" with the air. With regular use, more and more dye accumulates and a permanent hair colour develops that does not wash out but grows out with the hair.
Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo can conceal the hairline and grey hair both with natural hair colour and with dyed or tinted hair.
Can I also use Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo on light blonde, greyer or completely white hair?
The Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo is primarily designed for brown to dark hair. With lighter hair, the result may deviate from expectations and make the hair appear darker.
No, Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo is not a classic colouring product and can therefore be used without fear of discolouration. Neither your scalp nor your hands will become discoloured when you wash your hair.
To avoid discolouration of surfaces in the shower, washbasin or towels, shampoo residue should be rinsed off thoroughly. No discolouration is to be expected after rinsing and drying the hair.
We all go "grey" in the course of our lives - some earlier and some later. Some people get their first grey hairs in their 20s, while others don't notice the effects until they are 50.
How early someone greys depends on genetic predisposition, among other things, but lifestyle can also have an influence. Statistically, there are ethnic/regional differences, e.g. Europeans show grey hair earlier than Asians. Men also go grey earlier than women.
Incidentally, hair does not actually turn grey, but rather white or transparent. This is because the so-called melanocytes (pigment-forming cells) at the roots of the hair produce less and less melanin over time. Over time, the melanocytes even die off completely. The colour pigment is then missing in the hair that grows back and is replaced by air bubbles. This makes the hair appear grey or white.
The Plantur 39 Color range was developed to refresh the colour of brown or blonde hair. The products contain high-quality colour pigments that attach themselves to the hair with every wash and ensure more colour brilliance.
In addition to colour pigments, Plantur 39 Anti-Grey Effect Shampoo also contains the ingredient 5,6-DHI. This attaches itself directly to the hair shaft and reacts with the air, forming large "dye chains". With each shampoo, the hair colour gradually intensifies and remains permanently attached to the hair. The combination of colour pigments and DHI ensures a particularly intensive colour result with good grey coverage.
